Pilates

Classical Pilates. Taught the Way It Was Meant to Be.

At Thrive, Pilates is taught in its classical form — the system Joseph Pilates developed, refined, and documented. Not blended, not modified to fit a trend. The real thing, taught by a Master Trainer with over two decades of experience.

If you've taken Pilates elsewhere and felt like something was missing, this is what you were looking for.

Precision. Depth. Results That Last.

There's a reason the original method has endured. Pilates built a complete system — one that works through the full apparatus, demands mental engagement, and produces the kind of integrated strength and postural alignment that most fitness approaches never reach.

At Thrive, we work with the Reformer, Cadillac, Chair, and Barrel. We use precise cueing, careful progression, and close attention to how each client's body responds. Every session builds on the last.

What the work produces:

  • Deep core strength — not surface-level, but structural
  • Postural integrity that carries into everyday life
  • Improved mobility and joint stability
  • Enhanced body awareness and coordination
  • A practice you can maintain and build for decades

Small Groups. Individual Attention. No Shortcuts.

Our group Pilates classes cap at five people. That's not marketing — it's the reason the sessions work. Your instructor can see you, correct you, and adjust the work to what your body actually needs that day.

Private sessions go further still: one instructor, one client, the full apparatus, and a program built entirely around your goals.

Who It's For

Pilates at Thrive works for a wide range of clients — from those returning to movement after injury or a long gap, to high-level athletes looking to fill gaps in their training. Our instructors have extensive backgrounds in rehabilitative settings, so if you're navigating an existing condition or working around something, you're in experienced hands.

If you've never done Pilates, we recommend starting with an introductory package before joining a group session. It gives your instructor a chance to understand how you move — and gives you a foundation that makes everything more effective.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is classical Pilates, and how is it different from what most studios teach?

Classical Pilates refers to the original system developed by Joseph Pilates — taught in the sequence and on the apparatus he designed. Many studios teach hybrid versions that blend Pilates with other modalities or modify the sequences significantly. At Thrive, we teach the classical method as closely as possible to the original, which produces more consistent and lasting results.

Do I need experience to start?

No prior experience is required. If you're completely new to Pilates, we recommend beginning with one of our introductory packages — three private or group sessions that give your instructor time to understand how you move and get you ready for the full practice.

What should I wear?

Form-fitting clothing you can move freely in. Non-slip socks are required (we have them available at the studio if you need a pair).

How often should I practice?

Two to three times per week produces the most noticeable results. Once a week still builds a meaningful practice over time. Consistency matters more than frequency.

Can Pilates help with back pain or injury recovery?

Yes — and it's one of the areas where we have significant experience. Our instructors have backgrounds in rehabilitative settings and understand how to adapt the work safely and effectively. If you have a specific condition, let us know when you book so we can pair you with the right instructor.

How is Pilates different from yoga?

Both develop mind-body awareness, but Pilates emphasizes core strength, precise movement mechanics, and functional alignment. Yoga centers more on static postures, flexibility, and meditation. Many clients find they complement each other well.
